Helene Dancer
Director, strategist, writer, producer

I started my career as a journalist, moved into video and podcast production, and expanded into brand and content strategy. I lead projects from start to finish, guiding them from strategic thinking and concept development through to production and delivery.

Storytelling threads through everything I make, and I seek to use my skills to create a positive social impact.

I’ve worked at brilliant creative agencies and with talented freelancers to conceptualise and deliver award-winning communication strategies and content-led campaigns for clients including Nesta, WWF, Audi, Land Rover, Mazda, Nokia and Zurich Insurance.

My favourite personal project was travelling to Beirut to make a short documentary celebrating a dancer bringing the vogue scene to Lebanon – a country where the queer community still faces extreme discrimination. CNN's Great Big Story licensed Vogue Beirut for its Pride programming, and the film was selected for the 2018 Fringe! Queer Film Festival, Shorts on Tap's 2019 Tales of the Silk Road Festival, and Shanghai's CINEMQ.

Since becoming a parent, I started a newsletter called Mother's Gonna Work It Out. It's a collection of thoughts not just for mothers with children, but for everyone who cares for anyone.

I live in London and have close ties with South Africa, where I lived for a long time. Out of hours, you’ll find me at dance classes, buying records, and DJing on the radio and at parties with my partner. Our son is already in training.
