A website with e-commerce functionality to support a book and exhibition launch
Photographer Richard Slater spent the past five years exploring London, photographing and filming video interviews all over the capital. He amassed thousands of photographs on his travels, from punks in Camden to revellers at Notting Hill Carnival and druids on Primrose Hill.
He selected some of his favourites to appear in a People in London book and exhibition, held at London's Royal Geographical Society (with IBG).
Richard wanted a website to promote his exhibition and to provide a platform for people to buy his book, postcards, postcards and canvases of his images. With my creative director Jill Barnard over at our agency Sharpener, we created a visual and verbal identity for Richard, which complemented the book and exhibition designs and Richard's distinctive tone of voice.
Our proposed design was clean and clear, to let his photos do the talking. We suggested including some of his stories to accompany the photographs to give the experience more impact, so repurposed his words for the web and with SEO in mind. The site was designed to be responsive and easy to navigate on both mobile and desktop.
